Outline of Events: Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna, a distinguished advocate for peace, nonviolence, and harmony, will embark on a lecture tour in Japan from October 15th to October 25th, 2024. This tour will include engagements at six universities and other prestigious institutions, aimed at promoting India-Japan relations and enhancing people-to-people contact. This initiative seeks to deepen the relationship between our two countries and foster a greater understanding among young minds in Japan about Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy and actions.

Renowned globally for her extensive work in promoting Mahatma Gandhi's universal philosophy, Dr. Radhakrishna aims to inspire the younger generation and students with principles of transformational leadership and public diplomacy, as exemplified by Gandhi. Her lectures will focus on the relevance of Gandhi's teachings in addressing contemporary global challenges, emphasizing the importance of peace, nonviolence, and harmony in today's turbulent times.

With a decade of dedicated service, Dr. Radhakrishna has delivered 267 lectures in 134 countries and conducted online certificate courses in 109 countries, reaching a diverse international audience. Supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, her initiatives underscore the global relevance of Gandhi's teachings. During her visit to Japan, Dr. Radhakrishna will share her profound insights on how Gandhi's principles can be applied to foster a culture of peace and understanding across nations, thereby contributing to the global discourse on sustainable and harmonious development.

This lecture tour promises to be a significant step in educating and inspiring global communities on the timeless values of peace and nonviolence and promoting international peace.

Event 1 - Photograph Exhibition and Cultural Sessions in Schools

Event Details:  
Location: Two municipal primary schools in the West zone of Delhi
Collaboration for photographs: Embassy of Japan in Delhi
Exhibition Content Photographs taken by Indian visitors to Japan.
  Subjects include traditional Japanese architecture, people, landscape, history of Japan-India relations, Japanese culture, crafts, shrines, temples, distinctive seasons, traditional culture, architecture, and the latest technology.
  Photographs are borrowed from and will be returned to the Embassy of Japan.
Additional Activities Special sessions on Japanese culture and heritage for students and teachers

Event 2 - Photograph Exhibition and Cultural Sessions in Schools

Event Details:  
Location: Four Municipal Corporation Primary School and Open Schools in the slums of West Delhi.
  To honor Sadako Sasaki, the young girl who conveyed a message of peace by making 1000 paper cranes (Orizuru) after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Purpose Photographs taken by Indian visitors to Japan.
  To introduce students to the legend of Japanese paper cranes, which are believed to live for a thousand years and symbolize the fulfillment of a wish when 1000 cranes are folded.
Activities SWYAA-India will be conducting Origami workshops to teach students how to fold paper cranes.
  Educating students about the cultural significance and the legend associated with Japanese paper cranes.
Additional Activities Representative students will visit the Embassy of Japan to present 1000 Orizuru to H.E. Ambassador of Japan on 17th September 2024
